Teka (Skypace) -
Teka is a large blue fire world, circled by several gas giants and a few other planetary bodies. It is located in Blasala, the Head of the Dragon. Due to the space gate here, this star system is used by many travelers.
This star system is often called "Skypace" because of the large number of gas giants there, and because of the abundance of breathable air in the system. There are many "air nebulas" here. These are invisible, free floating bubbles of air that are not associated with any planets. It is believed that vortices to the elemental plane of air spontaneously open and close at random locations throughout the wild space of this system, creating these air nebulas. Occasionally these invisible vortices have been encountered, but they have never been known to last for more than a few months before fading away. Oddly, no known air nebulas or vortices have been encountered closer to Teka than the orbit of Herbrarbode. The stellar system beyond this point tends to have volcanic worlds and fire vortices instead of air vortices.
In addition to the air nebulas, there are several unusual 'void' worlds in this sphere. The term "void world" is usually applied only to dead, rocky worlds with no air whatsoever. There are several worlds in the Teka System that are like standard void worlds in every way but one - they have breathable air. No one knows what creates them, but it is believed that they pick up air when air nebulas are caught in thier gravity or when air vortices open up near them. Since there are no forests or animal life on these worlds, they do not create or recycle thier own air, and often they do not have a gravity field that is strong enough to keep thier atmospheres from drifting away into space. Because of this their atmospheric pressures are very unstable and vary widely. The average atmospheric pressures over the known history of these planets is given here, but at any given time it may vary by plus or minus 1d20 + 1d6 percent.
Although breathable air is plentiful in the empty void of space and on the earth bodies, it ironically is not plentiful in the gas giants. All but a few of these worlds are made up of unbreathable air. Some speculate that hidden air layers on some of these worlds may be breathable, but so far the known, poisonous, outer layers have kept anyone from confirming these theories.
There are no native sentient powers in this star system, but the Teka System is a popular waypoint for space travelers. There are several spaceports scattered throughout the sphere and a handful of space gates. Most of the spaceports are small inhabited planetoids. These spaceports are populated by a mixture of almost every race that travels through space, but the majority of their populations are human and demihuman. The inhabited planetoids, in order from the outer edge of the stellar system and heading inwards, are Suluth, Vire, Greyn, Pora, Vryckiel and Noniel. Suhtud is also populated, and is actually the most populated place in the Teka System, but it is not a planetoid, it is a regular moon.
There are also a few hundred thousand Evendaran elves present in the Teka system. They are the only organized space power here. They have an entire fleet stationed in the Teka System, based at a living station that orbits the world Harustharn Evehn. They also have a secret base at Harusthax Wirsserten.
Because of native spacelife and how large and warm Teka is, the space of this star system inside the orbit of the Zigarade Cluster is more dangerous than normal. Large, hostile creatures such as space skords, krajens, unfriendly space dragons, firebirds and hostile scavvers are more common than normal here. Pirate simian ships from the moons of Herbrarbode can be encountered here, too. Evendaran elves patrol the area from the Zigarade Cluster to the edge of the star system, but they do not patrol the area inside the orbit of the Zigarade Cluster. Any travelers who enter that area are on their own.
For every twelve hours one spends traveling in the area inside the orbit of the Zigarade Cluster there is a one in six chance a traveling ship will meet native wildlife or a hostile pirate ship. If they do, roll on the following chart to find out what they meet.
