Guide to Drav

FORENOTE

The following documents are a collection of papers, letters, and other items written about a the planet Drav, also known as Dravingas or Dravosse, and about the many things this planet holds.

This planet is called Drav or Dravingas by most of it's human inhabitants, Dravosse in the ancient language of the Dragons, and Jhaerghone by the world's elves. These writings were collected and where necessary translated by Arserpentinius, The Noble High Grand Wanderer of Sky City, Lomarish, on the world of Drav in Drav Space, and by his aides. He has gathered these documents together and put them in one tome for the benefit of future Wanderers and other seekers of knowledge who may wish to glean some greater understanding of this collection of worlds and the many treasures it has to offer.

The following documents have been directly translated and no effort has been made to edit or tie them together in any way. This task has been left up to the reader. Aside from their translation, much pain has been made to leave these documents as close to their original condition as possible, with minimal blurring of their original content or meaning. Because of this some documents give contradictory versions of the same event and some times details and dates do not match up. Some of these documents have not been accredited to an author because the author's identity remains unknown. However, the authenticity and relative accuracy of these documents has been verified via much study and, where all else has failed, by arcane means, and it is guaranteed by his Grandness, Lord Arserpentinius.

The authenticity of each document is guaranteed. By relative accuracy, it is meant that the document is accurate from the point of view of whoever wrote it, and the details given fall within known ranges of accuracy. Different cultures and peoples have different views of how the world runs and what has happened in it, and in many cases have incomplete or even false points of view. This is what is meant when the term "relative accuracy" is used. All that can be known for certain is that those who wrote them believed what they say is the truth. Because of this, many of these documents do not say the exact same thing, and, although they tend to be similar on many points, in some places they clearly contradict each other. In these cases it is safest to assume the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but this is for the reader to discern.

Because of this, documents from different regions, time eras, people, etc., have been included here so that the reader may compare and contrast them and decide for his/herself what his/her own relative truths are. Blatant and known falsehoods have been left out, however, so as to not confuse the reader. Enjoy, and may your head swell!
